 Fantastic Colors

Making colors come alive in exceptionally sensual creations – this is what the specialists of the GRAFE-Design-Center of the GRAFE-Group in Blankenhain, Germany is known for within the plastics industry and beyond. Through a collaboration between GRAFE and Eckart, a manufacturer of metal and effect pigments, six fantastic colors in six PET bottles that are embedded in an imaginative story have emerged. With an exceptional shine and a fascinating feel, the metallic tones are charming and temp a person into the world of Fantastic Colors.

"The Fantastic Colors project involves the implementation of the colored metal and effect pigments in our design bottle. They give it a deep, metallic, high gloss. It is only visible at second glance that this is a bottle made of plastic. In order to present the particular brilliance and color saturation accordingly, we have created a very elaborate packaging with a fairytale motif. There is also a story which takes the reader along on a journey into the fantastic world of bewitching colors," explains Julia Canzler, from the Design & Packaging Division at GRAFE, who is responsible for the project. The carton has recesses, through which the bottles and their brilliance can be seen.

The colors with which the bottles have been stained appear again on the outside of the hexagonal packaging. They illustrate a colorful fantasy landscape. There is a huge Golden Moon, a dark blue Midnight Sea, an Enchanted Treehouse, bronze Magical Rock, a small red boat that dances on the waves like Mystic Flames, and a little spray in silvery dust which has an effect like that of Dream Powder.

The bottles themselves were produced in the simulation system for extrusion blow molding which the GRAFE-Group purchased last year. "With the equipment, we can make the sample bottles for our customers for the qualitative evaluation of our chosen color. An advantage of our bottle is the illustration of colors on three different surfaces as well as across different radii and areas," Canzler explains. "We provide this service to our customers as well as to everyone in the relevant branches who is responsible for the design. It is also possible to develop and agree upon color requests together with us on site." "An example of this is the successful collaboration with Eckart, the metal and effect pigment manufacturer.
