The GRAFE Group provides its customers with the best possible solutions for laser marking along with a complete range of services. Unlike other marking processes, laser marking is resistant to chemicals and abrasion. This makes it durable and allows for a clean, accurate and precise marking of components with no need for preliminary surface treatment. Applications are found, for example, in the automotive and electrical industries.


Our developers continually face new challenges. They are continually developing the best possible formulations to meet the high requirements of the different materials to be marked in terms of contrast, edge definition and marking speed. Three options are available: dark, light and colored.

UV masterbatch for PC twin-wall sheets

Ultraviolet light is vital for maintaining nature – it enables growth and preserves the biological equilibrium. Ultraviolet light is a relatively high-energy radiation and this presents an ongoing challenge for the producers of masterbatches.


Ultraviolet radiation causes plastics and colors to age. The durability of plastic parts is thus greatly reduced. UV-absorbers are therefore added to plastics to make them more resistant.


Twin-wall sheets are normally polycarbonate based. Unlike PMMA or polyolefine, polycarbonate does not stand up well against high-energy radiation. Over time it suffers a loss of mechanical strength and yellows noticeably.


In general, manufacturers of PC compounds add approximately 5 to 6 percent UV absorbers. These compounds are used primarily in coextrusion processes. The thickness of the layer and therefore the concentration of the UV absorbers on the surface, determine the guarantee and durability of the twin-wall sheets in outdoor applications.


GRAFE’s newly developed UV masterbatches for PC twin-wall sheets offer the advantage of highly concentrated additive masterbatches and contain 50 percent of the active ingredient in addition to optical brighteners and a color improver. The masterbatch is dosed at 10 to 12 percent with pure PC and coextruded on to the twin-walled sheets.

The GRAFE Group is presenting an innovative type of additive masterbatch. It is a new combination of chemical substances for product marking. This marking can be detected both qualitatively and quantitatively in the end product by means of x-ray fluorescence analysis.


The additive masterbatch has been developed for applications with synthetic yarns and fibers, as well as for commodities and PP-, PA- and PET-based specialties. The active ingredients in the marker masterbatch can be used in many other plastics. They cannot be destroyed in the normal processing of thermoplastics and are resistant to solvents, scrubbing solutions, dye baths and spinning oils.


It is also possible to combine colors in the masterbatch – a complete solution for higher demands.


We provide our customers with technical support and assistance in evaluating marker masterbatches with our own in-house XRF analysis and with initial validation in production.

Spectrafoil Optical Lightener – Masterbatch for greenhouse films

For an abundant harvest


Our Spectrafoil Optical Lightener is a masterbatch for greenhouse films which transforms UV light into visible light. This increases the photosynthetic active radiation (PAR) and results in early harvests, improved yields and higher product quality.


The material has already been used successfully in the cultivation of strawberries, tomatoes, basil and cut flowers. Depending on the type of plant, yields can be increased by up to 30 percent. Plants branch out more and grow faster and more continuously. The amount of dry substrate in the fruits is also increased.


We recommend the use of this masterbatch in the regions of central and eastern Europe, especially in spring and autumn when the sun‘s radiation is weaker. It can also be combined with other additives.

Spectrafoil NIR Cooling Masterbatch

Dried out stalks are a thing of the past with GRAFE


Our Spectrafoil NIR Cooling Masterbatch reduces heat development in green houses because it absorbs and reflects the sun’s radiation in the near infrared range (NIR). Yet at the same time, it allows photosynthetic active radiation (PAR) to enter. Foils treated with this masterbatch have a cooling effect without limiting plant photosynthesis.


This product is especially suitable for warmer climate zones. Successful tests have been conducted in Spain and Cyprus on tomatoes, peppers and cucumbers. Yields increased by 15 percent and leaves had less tendency to dry out. The production facilities where the foils were used lost less heat over night and required less water. They also needed less energy for additional cooling systems due to the cooling effect of the foils.


Spectrafoil antifungi masterbatch

No trace of spores


Particularly in the production of food crops, keeping plant disease in check is of central importance. GRAFE is solving this problem with its masterbatch Spectrafoil Antifungi. Greenhouse foils that have been treated with this masterbatch modify the sun’s radiation as it passes through and prevent fungal spores from multiplying. This significantly reduces the amount of fungicide which is needed.


Spectrafoil Antifungi not only prevents crop failures, it improves crop yields. Eliminating the use of chemical agents in agriculture leads to healthier food.

New High Performance Antistatic Masterbatch

Keeping the sparks from flying


The exclusive high performance antistatic agent from GRAFE has a resistivity value in the range of 106 to 109 ohm-meters. This high antistatic protection helps to prevent sudden discharge of technical devices, reduces dust attraction on surfaces and minimizes the danger of sudden explosions. It offers special protection to sensitive electronic devices.


The long-term effect of our antistatic masterbatch is documented by over three years of research. Protection begins as soon as the end product is produced. The high performance antistatic masterbatch can be combined with color masterbatches or fillers. Our customers save costs through low dosaging without compromising on design and production flexibility.
