GRAFE once again receives CERTIFICATE OF COMPLIANCE in accordance with UL94 HB

The GRAFE Group has now received UL94 HB certification for its TPU-Telekolen product group. This comes in addition to the approval the company had already received for its PP-Modalen product group back in 2009. With the additional certification, the masterbatch specialist again demonstrates compliance with the stringent safety requirements of the UL standard and underlines the consistently high level of its product quality.

The UL certification paves the way for sales and project activities in the United States and is by now often required within Europe as well. The GRAFE Group has had its product  PP-Modalen masterbatch for PP injection molding applications certified since the beginning of 2010. This year TPU-Tekolen was granted approval in accordance with UL 94 HB „all colors“. This method determines the HB flammability class and is used mainly for electrical appliances. The UL engineers subjected the masterbatch to a UL-defined test, in order to establish its conformity with their requirements. After receiving successful certification, the Thuringian company can now use the “UL” test mark for its product groups PP-Modalen and TPU-Tekolen. The products will undergo UL certification procedures throughout their entire production life, in order to ensure their permanent conformity with the original requirements.

TPU-Tekolen is available in all colors and without technical restrictions in accordance with customer specification. Fields of application include technical soft plastics and components, sealing material, tubes and hoses, cable sheathing, 2-K-injection molded components, etc.

„In addition to the ISO and TS16949 certified quality in R & D, production and service, we are now focusing our efforts even stronger on product safety. This will benefit all our customers – even those who do not require the UL certification for our products at present;” declared Steffen Felzer, managing director at GRAFE Polymer Technik. „The certification shows that we are not only an innovation driver in the manufacture of customer-specified masterbatches and compounds, but that customer proximity and a view to the future is inherent to our company’s philosophy.”

The UL test is an internationally recognized materials testing procedure during which the properties of a product, a service or technique are determined on the basis of the specifications issued by Underwriters Laboratories, one of the greatest, most important, and oldest US test agencies. The UL test criteria include the legal safety standards of the USA. These are comparable with those of such German test agencies, as TÜV or VDI. It is essential for companies that wish to sell their products on the North American market to provide proof of conformity with the US safety regulations. Certificates documenting this are issued by specially qualified and recognized UL-test laboratories.
